WHERE HAS THE LOVE GONE?

Today in society we see more and more how the world is clinging less to the bible and more to the flesh. The word of God is diminishing and the flesh of many is rising. People no longer are considering others but they are doing whatever is necessary in order to fill their own fleshly desires. We see college students “hooking up” just to fulfill their sexual desires. This “hook up” gives them the option to have friends with benefits which has no strings attached and no commitment. Mothers are no longer taking the responsibility to care for their children and laving them to take care of themselves. People are lying in order to get to the “top” of the corporate world and ahead of their counterparts. Families are being torn apart over financial issues and the crime rate in
How did we get here? Jesus teaches the disciples in Matthew 24:12 saying “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.” The sin that is ever increasing in the world today has caused the love of the people to diminish. Increasing sin causes a decrease of love. Society as a whole has become blinded by sin and lost the true insight on what love really is. 1 Corinthians 13:1-8; 13 gives us the true definition of love which says, “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away…. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.”
The Greek word for Charity is “agape” which means love. So we see in this particular scripture how the Apostle is explaining the true meaning of love. We see that without love we are nothing! It doesn’t matter what gifts and talents we have if we don’t have love we are nothing! Today we see much of the opposite of 1 Corinthians 13 happening in the world today. The selfish desires of many have taken over. People no longer want to be patient with others when they make mistakes. Promises are broken without even giving a second thought toward apology. People are no longer content with the things they have and always desire to have more. Tempers are increasing and many are looking for ways to repay evil for evil. We also see others rejoicing when others mess up and make mistakes. Society has begun to loose faith in God and have become skeptical of him. Many have lost hope. They are no longer able to endure the trials of today.
How can we begin to restore love in the world? We have to begin to look at ourselves and allow God to restore a right spirit within us. Pray as David did to the Lord and say God “create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me.” What is a right spirit? It is the power of the Holy Spirit working through us to exemplify his love. We need to pray for a revival of love to flow through us and all over the land. We have to pray that God’s word will increase in the earth and that his power will overshadow the work of the enemy. As we do our part in prayer, the power of God’s spirit will enable us to conquer the land with his true love.
