Producer, Artist, Engineer and Musician! Lorenzo (SHADOWGOD) Thorne encounters a passion for music that deeply connects with your spirit. Lorenzo is a person you would love to meet. His motivation, confidence and originality are really inspiring! 28 year old Lorenzo (SHADOWGOD) Thorne is originally from Washington D.C. He currently lives in Norfolk, VA. It is there were he runs and operates his own recording studio. Brief history- back in the late 70’s, Lorenzo’s father Alfred Jesse Thorne was a Jazz Musician in the Washington D.C area. Back then, Jazz music wasn’t really a highlight in music there; the most common genre of music then was titled as “Go-Go music”. Lorenzo’s father was known to play multiple instruments who established an ear, well trained for music. Following the footsteps of his father, Lorenzo’s inspiration for music was definitely inspired by him!
Accomplishments:
Lorenzo has performed all over the Tidewater area as an Emcee, Drummer, and a Keyboardist. In May of 2007, Lorenzo auditioned for the Apollo Theater in New York City and was invited back to perform at the Amateur Night in October of 2007. On March 28th, 2008 Lorenzo finished up his first solo album titled “GOD-GIVEN” Experience how his story- telling, struggles and testimonies inspire the ears of his listeners through word and song! Also, Lorenzo is currently bringing his second album to a close titled “THE NEW ERA” soon to be released in the summer of 2009. In May 2008, McDonald’s developed an event titled “The Big Mac Chant-Off”. This musical competition inspired aspiring artist to come up with their own unique/original Big Mac song, following the traditional Big Mac Chant. At the end of the deadline given 5 artists were chosen given the opportunity for the world to pick & vote for their favorite act. Lorenzo submitted his material and was chosen in the top 10, rating at 92% regarding to page views and hits!
Future Plans & Goals:
In the fall of 2009 Lorenzo plans to teach a class titled “How to Become an Emcee”. This class will definitely benefit, encourage and excel the hearts and minds of those who strive for academic and musical –excellence/independence. With the help of Old Dominion University and Tidewater Builders Association, Lorenzo plans to develop a Community Center helping children and young adults succeed to achieve their academic and personal goals in life. Lorenzo quotes “Music is my destiny; God has called me to become his servant through word and song. I am a man with many talents; therefore, I must obey my calling and exercise each of them daily. I have accomplished many short-term goals which will help accomplish the ultimate goal showering each and every indiviual in the name of Jesus Christ!” Normally, artist who produces positive music, may not get much radio-air play- because the nature of the business and its commercialism. Hopefully that will change here. Locally, Lorenzo is considered as a cultural icon, striving to accomplish his goals and dreams as listed above. As a reminder to all aspiring artist and producers. Learn as much as you can, eduacte yourself, learn the music business and how it will affect you, also read and write daily, it will become useful both in and out of the studio. And most important, work as hard as you need to get where you are going. Why? Because hard work equals Success!
